TLC Lab Announces New Multimodal Evidence Hub

September 03, 2026

We are excited to share that construction of the TLC Lab's new Multimodal Evidence Hub is underway this year in McGill University's Faculty of Education!

Made possible through a $930,000 investment from the Canada Foundation for Innovation through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund, the Hub will give the TLC team and collaborators new ways to study what happens while people learn with technology.

The new space will include 20 digital learning stations equipped to capture multiple forms of evidence about learning, including attention, emotion, behaviour, interaction, and learning outcomes. Eye tracking, physiological sensors, video, screen and interaction data, virtual and augmented reality, and other technologies will allow us to study learning as it happens.

Dr. Dubé and the TLC team will use the Hub to expand our research on educational apps, games, artificial intelligence, and other emerging learning technologies. The space will also create new opportunities to collaborate with other research teams, schools, educators, and companies interested in understanding how technology can support learning.

We cannot wait to see the Multimodal Evidence Hub take shape this year and to start welcoming students and collaborators into the space!
